You finally have a deep encounter with God's presence. You hear his voice like never before and He reveals things to you. He shows you things you'd never thought of and then it seems as if nothing is happening; like you missed something. You are supposed to test the spirit nonetheless but sometimes He is also testing you to stretch your faith. (1 John 4:1-6) We know that there is nothing new under the sun. (Ecc 1:9-11) What if God decides to do something new with you that has not been seen in your generation or environment? You have no reference of it happening before but He spoke it.

First and foremost He will show evidence of Himself being with you if He is leading it. The Israelites knew that God was with Moses. He parted the Red Sea through Moses's obedience. (Exodus 14) When that mantle was passed to Joshua, God gave evidence of Him being there by parting the Jordan river through Joshua's obedience. (Joshua 5) It was a similar miracle but a reminder that it was the same God. The fruit of the Spirit will appear when God is in it. (Gal 5:22-23) When the Israelites were approaching Jericho Joshua saw a man, the commander of the army of the Lord. He was instructed to take off his sandals because he was on holy ground which was similar to Moses' previous encounters with God when he received instructions from the Lord. When he came back to the Israelites in Joshua 6, he came back with specific instructions on what needed to be done. When God gives a word to you, He is not only commanding for obedience but to increase your faith by walking it out with Him. He doesn't always ask for you to go to others but to step out on what He said to fulfill His promise for you and others connected to you. (Joshua 5:13-15) He is a God of His Word and always fulfills His promises. ALL of them. (Joshua 21) Any deviation or disobedience could compromise the promise or forfeit the promise for you altogether. (Num 14: 20-31)

Listen to those before you. (Pro 14:11) He has placed them there for a reason, but also know that God has the ultimate and final say so. He speaks from truth. He speaks from omniscience.
