I have heard many things from many people on what blessed means. Wealthy people are often associated with that word because of their material assets. Those who were considered more desirable than others were blessed. Those with outstanding talents and notoriety were considered blessed. For some reason it seemed as if blessed was a term reserved for only seemingly good situations that go the way we desire or better than the normal consensus for a given situation and circumstances. The question became: Well God, what is blessed to You?
What is blessed? Truly. Have we been misconstruing it? Blessings come from God. John the Baptist once said "A person can receive only what is given them from heaven..." (John 3:27) There are many different verses that cover what blessed looks like. They honestly give a new meaning to what the phrase "Blessed coming in and blessed coming out" looks like.
Psalm 94:12-13 NIV
Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord, the one you teach from your law; you grant them relief from days of trouble , till a pit is dug for the wicked.
Isaiah 30:18b AMP
For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship!]
These two verses redefined what blessed means to me. Especially in seasons where I don't necessarily feel like it. There are many others but my question to you is have you been defining yourself as blessed based on the way God sees it or the way you see it? Nothing can bring you life except Christ. It is in that life that we will find we are blessed.
