Who're You Trying To Impress?

Considering the stay at home and shelter in place announcements which were given to some states in what feels like a lifetime ago, this question begs to be asked: Who are you trying to impress?

Seriously.
Although many of us are at home, we have time to re-evaluate many aspects of our lives at this point in time—unless you’re an essential worker. In that case, you are working often times more than your normal amount of shifts with people trying to be safe while entering jobs that’re currently available.
When Samuel was coming to anoint David as King, he didn’t know he was coming to anoint David. Walking into Jesse’s house, Samuel thought the obvious choice would have been Eliab (David's oldest brother). He looked the part. It also didn’t take David to do anything but be David and God’s favor to be anointed. He didn’t have to do ANYTHING but be David. Samuel just went where the Lord led.

The only point to this post if you don’t get anything else is this.
1 Samuel 16:7 NIV “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
God sees you down to the very core of who you are. The parts you can see and the ones you can’t. He’s constantly leading you and guiding you, even through the midst of what’s going on right now inside and outside of COVID-19. All you have to do is trust Him. He KNOWS you. When you accept Christ, it officially allows you to know Him. Impress means to “make (someone) feel admiration and respect for.” It’s okay if others are impressed by you being yourself but it shouldn’t be your MO, especially when there is one who knows you most and best.
